Healthy Gums Start Here
Preventive care and professional cleanings to protect your smile and maintain a strong foundation for healthy teeth.
At your initial visit and regular check-ups, we perform a thorough dental exam to ensure your oral health is on track. This includes:
Diagnostic X-Rays: Detect bone loss around teeth, tumors, cysts, and assess tooth and root positions.
Oral Cancer Screening: Examine your face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, and gums for early signs of oral cancer.
Gum Health Evaluation: Check for signs of periodontal (gum) disease affecting the gums and supporting bone.
Comprehensive Dental Exam
Scaling and root Planing
Your cleaning appointment is performed by a Registered Dental Hygienist and includes:
Tartar (Calculus) Removal: Eliminate hardened plaque that forms above and below the gum line, which can only be removed with professional instruments.
Plaque Removal: Clean away the sticky film of bacteria, food particles, and saliva that leads to gum inflammation and periodontal disease.
Teeth Polishing: Remove stains and residual plaque for a fresh, bright smile.
Prevent Issues Before They Start
Early care is the key to avoiding costly and painful dental problems later.
How often should I schedule a dental cleaning and exam?
Most patients benefit from a cleaning and exam every six months. However, if you have gum disease or other risk factors, we may recommend more frequent visits to maintain optimal oral health.
Why is professional cleaning necessary if I brush and floss at home?
Even with excellent home care, plaque and tartar can build up in hard-to-reach areas. Professional cleanings remove these deposits and help prevent gum disease, decay, and other oral health issues.
Does a dental cleaning hurt?
For most patients, cleanings are comfortable and painless. If you have sensitive gums or significant tartar buildup, you might feel slight discomfort, but our hygienists take extra care to keep you comfortable.
What’s included in a dental exam?
Your exam includes:
Diagnostic X-rays (as needed)
Oral cancer screening
Gum disease evaluation
Review of existing dental implants
Review of your bite and trauma from occlusion including clenching or grinding of teeth
Does insurance cover cleanings and exams?
Most dental insurance plans cover routine exams and cleanings four times a year. Our team can help you understand your benefits and provide financing options for any additional care.
